Before taking up his role with NIORD, Simon Markussen worked as part of Norwegian Hull Club’s Global Energy & Specialty team as Senior Underwriter - Offshore Renewables. From 2021, he was Commercial Risk Engineer.

Simon came to The Club from a subsea industry background, a segment he entered in 2012. Having been employed for nearly a decade by subsea contractors boasting broad product portfolios, Simon has extensive insight into a range of different fields relevant to the installation and operation of Offshore Renewable projects. ​

Acting in various roles during the tendering phase, as well as supporting project managers during project execution, has given him a solid understanding of bottom-fixed and floating-renewable project development. He has a MSc in Shipping, Trade and Finance from Bayes, formerly Cass, business school, London.

Simon says: “Offshore Renewables play a pivotal role as key enablers in the ongoing energy transition. I find great motivation in collaborating with my dedicated colleagues at NIORD, who are committed to establishing equitable risk allocation across the industry, thereby contributing significantly to the advancement of this transition."
